The Client
Lauren Ahola is a Registered Dietitian & Yoga Instructor who specializes in weight management, wellness, & mindfulness. She offers individualized nutrition counseling and private yoga sessions, both in-person and virtually, in the South Shore of the Boston area.
Project Goals
Lauren came to me looking to create a custom brand and website for her new holistic wellness business, one that not only captured her unique essence but also had a clean and simple look to it.
Brand Foundation
We began by diving deep into the essence of her and her brand to uncover what her business is all about. Below is a summary of what we discovered, which helped us lock in her foundational core and gave us a focused direction to move forward with.
Core Values:
Self-love, simple, honest, empowering.
Mission:
To help others feel strong, energetic, confident & develop better relationships with themselves and others.
Target Audience:
Women 18-40 in the Southern Massachusetts area who are interested in learning a holistic approach to weight management and are ready to pursue a healthier lifestyle that encompasses long-term results.
How Her Brand Helps These People:
LEAN uses a 3-dimensional, holistic approach that incorporates all lifestyle factors including nutrition, mindfulness, and exercise to help women look and feel their best. Lauren offers 1-on-1 nutrition & lifestyle coaching (both in-person + virtual) to help her clients stop dieting and start living with an individualized plan that works for them. To help women create a stronger mind/body connection, she offers private or small group yoga sessions, which help them master their mind and stick with their healthier eating habits. In addition, she also brings healthier habits to the work-space through nutrition presentations, lunch and learns, and/or yoga classes.
How She Wants Her Brand to Look + Feel:
Clean, uplifting, empowering, fun.
Mood Board
The next step was to create the foundation for her visual identity. We began by curating a mood board and color palette that not only helped us capture the look and feel she was visualizing for her brand, but also helped us get on the same page so that we could streamline the entire design process going forward.
Lauren wanted her brand to look and feel clean, uplifting, empowering, and fun. For her color palette, she wanted to include greens, dusty pinks, gray, and white.
Logos
Once we had the foundation down, it was time to move on to the logos! Lauren wanted a minimalistic logo that included her name and a lotus flower symbol. Together we came up with a primary logo + a few variations so she always had a few different options to choose from.
Business Cards
After designing her logos, it was time to design Lauren's business cards. We used her primary logo for the front of the card and added her submark symbol, contact information, and brand colors to the back of the card.
Website Design
Once her visual identity was complete, it was on to the design and development of Lauren's website! Using her mood board as a visual guide, I used a combination of Lauren's personal photos along with some stock photos that matched her brand's style. I also created some custom graphics, textures, and backgrounds to bring about a unique, holistic look. In addition, I added a slider at the top of the home page to help her audience get a sense of what she's all about within the first couple of seconds of landing on her site.
Blog
A blog was also added so Lauren could share recipes, nutrition tips, fitness finds, and personal development advice. In the sidebar, we added an email list signup form so readers could receive notifications about new blog posts. In addition, social media sharing buttons were added at the side of her posts so that readers could easily share her content to their social media pages, which would naturally help bring more traffic back to her site, ultimately boosting her SEO rankings.
Lead Magnet
To help build Lauren's email list, we decided to create an eBook that she could use as a lead magnet!
Lauren came up with a Free Meal Guide that would help her clients, and potential clients, plan their daily meals and snacks with the best quality nutrition. I then put create a digital eBook as well as some custom graphics on her site to help promote it, then connected everything to MailChimp.
After someone enters their email, the ebook will automatically be emailed to them and their email address will be added to Lauren's list of subscribers!
SEO
Lauren's website was optimized for search engines (SEO) which will help her business get found more organically online from others who are searching Google and other search engines for the kinds of products and services she offers.
Branding Board
After the project was complete, I finalized Lauren's branding board with all of her design elements so that she would have something to refer to going forward. This is also good to have in case she ever works with another designer, social media manager, or another type of team member because they will know which fonts to use, which colors to use and how to stay "on brand" when creating new promotional content.
