I don’t know about you, but I’ve personally been searching for my soul’s purpose for a long, long time. I felt like if I could just figure out what my purpose is, then I could start doing my work! (I mean, it’s pretty logical, right?)
After the onset of my Spiritual Awakening, a Dark Night of the Soul, and years of deep healing + soul-searching, I’ve humbly discovered that our “purpose” is not actually a thing, but rather a FEELING.
If you, too, have been searching for your soul’s purpose, you may have found yourself asking questions like:
- What is my purpose?
- What is my “gift”?
- What am I here to do?
- What am I supposed to be doing?
I’ve discovered that the way we inquire about our soul’s purpose is what keeps us STUCK.
What OUR SOUL’S PURPOSE IS
Our purpose is more about WHY we do something, rather than WHAT we do.
WE CAN GET THE CLARITY WE ARE SEEKING BY SIMPLY REFRAMING THE QUESTION
So instead of asking WHAT questions, ask yourself WHY and HOW questions.
For example:
- WHY do I want to know what my soul’s purpose is?
- HOW will I feel once I discover it?
- HOW will I feel when I fully embrace it?
- WHY do I want to start/grow my own business? What am I hoping it will ultimately bring me?
- HOW do I want to feel on a daily basis from the work that I do?
When you really think about it… the reason WHY we’d want to do anything in life is because we believe it will help us FEEL a certain way. And I believe what most of us want to feel is LOVE, FREEDOM, JOY, HAPPINESS, PEACE, and FULFILLMENT.
So, deep down, what we actually want is to FEEL positive feelings more often!
To feel CLEAR + CONFIDENT about who we are, what we do, who we serve, and how we serve them. To be able to wake up feeling HAPPY, EXCITED, and INSPIRED every morning just knowing we get to spend the day doing what we LOVE and feel PASSIONATE about. And that we get PAID to do what we LOVE! Because we are truly making a difference in the lives of others!
That being said, I believe we all ESSENTIALLY have the same purpose: to feel JOY in all that we are and all that we do!
To simply BE joyful, because that’s who we truly are! To EMBODY the most authentic versions of ourselves – our most powerful selves! To BE the fullest expressions of ourselves, unapologetically!
Put simply, our purpose is to BE our TRUE, AUTHENTIC selves!
What OUR SOUL’S UNIQUE MISSION IS
When we are asking ourselves questions like “what am I here to do,” what we are actually inquiring about is our SOUL’S UNIQUE MISSION.
If our purpose is about BEING, our mission is about DOING.
Our mission is the work we came to this planet to DO.
- It’s the INNER WORK we do to understand ourselves better, resolve our internal struggles, and overcome our challenges.
- It’s the work we do to discover our PASSIONS, harness our GIFTS, and learn HOW we can use those to help others.
- It’s the ACTIONS we take to express what our businesses are all about to the world.
- It’s our UNIQUE APPROACH and how we help people.
- It’s what we do on a DAILY BASIS to reach our bigger goals and dreams… which is ultimately to empower ourselves and others to feel JOY more often!
Our brands and businesses are external representations of ourselves and are based on our own personal life experiences, values, and beliefs. They are usually created from something we may have deeply struggled with and eventually discovered our own way to overcome.
Through these personal challenges and experiences, we have learned what works, and what doesn’t, and because of this, we do things in a certain way. This is our unique approach and is what makes us DIFFERENT and helps us STAND OUT! Because we are unique and no one else can do what we do exactly like we can!
OUR BUSINESS MISSION
When it comes to our businesses, our mission is to share what we’ve learned and discovered along our journey as a way to help others who may be struggling with the same things.
This is done through our products, services, blog posts, podcasts, social media posts, newsletters, events, gifts, skillsets, energy, and anything else we create and put out into the world!
If you’re looking to discover what your soul’s unique mission is, the following questions can help you gain some clarity:
- What do I love and feel passionate about?
- What kind of work brings me happiness, joy, and fulfillment?
- What have I struggled with the most… and overcome?
- What types of people do I want my business to serve? (these are usually past versions of ourselves!)
- What am I helping these people do/have/be/overcome through my business?
- What do I believe is the best way for them to achieve that? What’s my unique approach?
- What kinds of products/services/education would they need?
IN CONCLUSION
I believe the KEY to living a life full of freedom, joy, and fulfillment comes from doing work that aligns with our soul’s purpose and mission!
Our life’s mission is really just one big self-discovery journey. There is no destination… but rather a journey of constant growth and expansion. It’s all about discovering our unique gifts, passions, and what brings us JOY… and then just doing more of whatever THAT is!
It’s about BEING who we truly are and DOING more of what we love.
We’re not here to be a carbon copy of someone else’s business. We are here to embrace what makes us UNIQUE, to create our own products and services, and to bring our own perspectives, insights, and MAGIC into this world… so we can THRIVE just by being ourselves!
