Today was kind of my day off… Or at least it was different than my usual days. I felt guilty not really working, but essentially I guess I was. I was working on building and keeping relationships.
I could have slept in this morning, BUT it was trash day and so the trash trucks like to take about 30 min to go through the alley and snatch up all the trash, starting around 7am. Since my bedroom window overlooks the alley, guess who doesn’t get to sleep in on Thursdays? That’s right. Me.
So I got up, and was going to go to the gym or go for a run but I was tired and didn’t feel up to it. I figured I could go later in the day but that actually never worked out. I need to change that about myself, now that I think about it.
Anyways, I took an hour and a half to eat breakfast and ease into the morning, which was a nice change from my usual rushed mornings. Around 8:30, I signed into Lyft and gave two rides within the hour, to two really cool guys. One was also an entrepreneur, in town from NYC, and the other was someone in my neighborhood who actually ended up being interested in the whole Herbalife thing. I told him I was looking to make new friends in the neighborhood and he suggested getting a smoothie or something sometime. I was like, “HELL YEAH!” So I gave him a fit club flyer with my email on it and he said he’d be in touch. Rad.
Woah, I just said, “rad.” Cripes, I’m becoming a Californian. When I start using “hella,” please remind me again who I am. Thanks.
Moving on. I ended up heading back home at 9:30 and just did some work on the computer until I met one of my Herbalife downlines (Dan) for lunch. He and I have kind of been in slumps lately and I kind of gathered that perhaps we were going through similar things, so I suggested getting together to vent to each other and hash things out. That ended up being a really great idea!
We got some Thai food (my fav!) at his friends restaurant, called Sang Dao, in La Mesa. It was DELICIOUS! We talked for about 2 hours and then headed back to my place to hang out and just vent a little more. We discovered we are indeed in the same boat with a lot of things and I think we reached a new level of friendship, which is awesome because we will be working together in the future and I just feel like I can trust him more now (I don’t trust easily.) He told me later that day that he really felt a lot better about everything and was glad we got together.
By the way, he has a 10 month old baby girl, named Bella, whom he brought out to lunch with him, and I just think she is the most adorable baby ever! She never cries, is super giggly and is so curious about everything! I hope that I get to be around to watch her grow up!
Dan and Bella hung out at my place until 5:00 and then I had to get ready for my next eating rendezvous. I was meeting old friends for dinner at a restaurant in La Jolla. This dinner ended up being awesome and I was so happy to see my core group of friends from my initial year in San Diego, 5 years ago. Many of us haven’t actually seen each other since last summer, since a few have moved to the east coast. It was nice to kick back with all of them and have a beer with a burger and fries. It was also cool to try a new restaurant (Public House.) I’m so glad we have all made the effort to keep in touch and get together whenever we get the chance, even though we are all super busy. It just goes to show how much we appreciate and cherish our friendships! That is priceless.
I got home around 10pm, put together a workout for the 6:30am workout in the morning and passed out, totally exhausted. I love going to bed totally exhausted. It means I had a successful day 🙂
